OKLAHOMA CITY—A House committee approved legislation that would add a bit of paperwork to every abortion.
House Bill 2015 would add additional questions to the Individual Abortion Form, which is completed by the doctor.
Also, the bill would add additional reporting measures to the Annual Abortion Report and allow registered voters to initiate legal proceedings against any abortion provider who doesn’t follow the requirements.
Okla. Rep. Sean Roberts said, “House Bill 2015 is needed due to the abortion-related legislation enacted during the three-year period since the Statistical Reporting Act became law in 2010. The reporting requirements need to be updated to reflect the new laws.”
The bill would require that a doctor’s office report whether or not they complied with the provisions of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
The act forces doctors to determine the age of the fetus before performing an abortion.
The Oklahoma House of Representatives Public Health Committee approved the legislation.
If it is approved by the House Calendar Committee, it will be available for a hearing on the House floor.
