OKLAHOMA CITY – Monday morning a grassroots movement gathered at the Capitol to ensure we are preserving resources for future generations.
S.P.I.R.I.T. hosted a walk and rally in response to the worldwide movement, Idle No More Global Call to Action.
It calls on citizens to rally in support of preserving lands and resources and honoring treaties.
Last Nov. the movement put on numerous rallies, marches and flash mobs all over the world to raise awareness about saving water, lands and air for future generations.
Recently, the Oklahoma Idle No More group has held functions at Penn Square Mall, Bricktown, the Oklahoma State Capital and even the Choctaw Casino.
The walk was from N.W. 18th St. and Lincoln Blvd. to the Tribal flag just north of the State Capitol.
Guest speakers included Richard Way Whitman, Wayland Gray and Chebon Kernell.
